The Mid-South Fly Fishers recognize that the future of fly fishing depends on clean water. To that end we have become avid sponsors of a very exciting program called the Water Education Team, or WET. WET is a water monitoring program that involves high schools located near a selected river or stream. The selected schools collect samples and perform as many as 25 experiments including dissolved oxygen, nutrients, heavy metals, and study aquatic life. While this has been a very successful program the Mid-South Fly Fishers wanted to take the next step with these students, and have established the Mid-South Fly Fishers Scholarship Foundation.
There are two pressing issues facing the future of the Arkansas trout fisheries. The first is the proposed Trout Management Plan. The second, is the continuing issue of Minimal Flows. While these issues are still evolving, we are trying to make sure that you have all the relevant facts, and conduits to express your opionions.
These are historic times with regards to the Arkansas trout fisheries, on par with the introduction of brown trout, and catch and release. Don't miss this opportunity to have a say in the future of Arkansas trout fishing!
