Mid-South Fly Fishers
Education - Conservation - Fellowship
Memphis area fly tiers -- Johnny Jackson and the Mid-South Fly Fishers will host the next level Intermediate Fly Tying Class beginning September 1 at 6 pm. The class will meet on Tuesday evenings for 5 weeks at the Orvis Memphis Store. The exception will be we will meet on September 21 instead of September 22 due to a previous store engagement. Class meeting dates are September 1, 8, 15, 21, and 29. The registration cost for the class is $50 — registrations are limited. This class is targeted at the Intermediate or advanced beginner level tier — someone who is comfortable working with various materials and is ready to move beyond the basic nymphs for fishing our Arkansas tail waters. The course will cover rubberlegs and girdle bugs; terrestrials like beetles, ants, hoppers and chubby chernobyls; caddis dry flies; and maybe even parachute dry flies. We will work on techniques for working with foam, hackles, deer hair, rubber legs, marabou, etc. The techniques and bugs that will be covered work on our local tail waters and also on trout waters across the USA. Most of the bugs can also be sized for local warm water fisheries too. Materials for all of the flies will be provided at each class. Class participants should bring their own tools. At the first class we will discuss any specialty tools to be used with recommendations on obtaining those tools. Please note that once submitted registrations are final — we are unable to process refunds in the event of necessary cancellations.
