Introduction to Fly Fishing


The Mid-South Fly Fishers' Introduction to Fly Fishing Class is the event to get beginner fly fishing information, basic casting instruction, do some warm water fishing, meet new friends & have FUN!

The cost is $35 for non-members, FREE for members. You MUST sign up for either option. If you would like to join the club, please <INSERT MEMBERSHIP LINK> for the MSFF Membership Application.

AGENDA

8:30-9:00am Registration & Introductions
9:00-9:45am Presentation of Fly Fishing Safety, Courtesy, & Beginning Equipment & Gear
9:45-10:30am Casting Demonstration & Instruction
10:30-12:00pm Warm Water Fishing on a Lake with a friend

Required Equipment:

ou can bring your own fly rod & reel, suggest 5-6 weight, leader, tippet, and some flies. If you don’t have equipment, the Mid-South Fly Fishers has 5-6 weight rods and reels available for use.
we also have leaders, tippet & flies for those who don’t have them.
- S
uggested flies are Woolly Buggers in olive, black or brown will work great in the lake. MSFF staff will have other flies as needed.
- W
e will fish from the bank so waders are not required. It may be a little muddy, so consider shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy.
Hat, sunscreen, and a jacket are always good items to have with you when fishing.
